How to be delusional, girl math and my Youtube channel
And other lists I made this week
Welcome to Easy, Breezi.
Your friend who sends you a weekly update on what she's working on, reading through, and thinking about – in a list.
Before we dive in, I wanted to share that we’re hiring a Marketing Intern this summer. Please send it to the smartest college students you know!
I’ve been in a bit of a writing rut, which is why you haven’t heard from me in a couple of weeks. I hate inbox clutter. I routinely block time off in my calendar just so I can go through and unsubscribe to all the emails I never read. The last thing I wanted to do was to send you something I wasn’t happy with.
But good news, I’m inspired again.
Today’s list is on mindset shifts.
You can call it whatever you want – “mental shifts”, “reframing”, “positive self talk”, “optimism” or my personal favorite, courtesy of the girlies on tiktok
“Delulu is the solulu!”
💡 For a more science-backed deep dive on this, I recommend listening to this interview.
Known as the "mother of mindfulness" and the "mother of positive psychology," Dr. Ellen Langer's work has shown that our thoughts can influence our physical well-being, from weight loss to wound healing.
The tl;dr – change your mind, change your life.
7 mindset shifts that changed my life
“It sucks for me, but it sucks more for them” for when you don’t get the job you want, or when the person you like says they don’t like you back. Their loss.
“You’re not an imposter, you’re just a beginner” for when you feel like you have no idea what you’re doing. It’s scary because it’s unfamiliar, not because you’re incapable. Everyone starts from somewhere.
“If everyone thinks it’s a good idea, it’s probably not” for when someone tells you they don’t believe in what you’re doing. Not everyone has taste.
“Embarrassment is the cost of entry” for when you think what you’re doing is cringe. If the fear of looking stupid makes you think twice about pursuing your dream — you don’t want it bad enough.
“Building discipline > finding motivation” for when you really don’t want to do something you know you should. Like going to the gym or following a diet. You’re not always going to be motivated so you must be disciplined.
“Change is the only constant” for when you don’t recognize yourself or the place you’re in anymore. Life will ask you to transition and transform time and time again. I’ve stopped trying to hold onto versions of myself and just embrace what’s next on the horizon.
“The best you’ll get is what you think you deserve” for when you’re self sabotaging. This is the glass ceiling you have put on your own life. Raise it within yourself and watch how your entire life elevates.
Fave list on Breezi from this week
Because I too, imagine a world where I don’t have to pay $44.49 a month for Creative Cloud and contact lenses …
Quick reminder about me and Breezi:
We like to make lists. And share them with our friends. But couldn’t find a fun and easy way to do so. We envisioned a world where your Notes app, Pinterest and group chat had a baby … so we decided to build Breezi.
💡Breezi is currently invite-only. Skip to the top of the waitlist by signing up here.
